They are all well worth taking advantage of as Style Templates for recording Parts. Especially for new JV/XP owners, I strongly recommend using the Performance Presets as building blocks for song construction. As you explore with the Parts' settings, you can learn explore how the "professionals" configured the effect settings and balanced the Parts to achieve the "style" blend of the preset; and eventually make your own elaborate modifications. Note: the "default" Control Channel for selecting these is MIDI Channel 16. Style Performance Preset(s) ===== ===================== Acid PR-A:09 Ambient PR-A:10 Ballad PR-A:16 Baroque PR-A:32 Blues PR-B:06 Country PR-B:07 Dance PR-A:06-08 Dixieland PR-B:14 Ethnic PR-A:01-04 Film Score PR-A:28-29 Folk PR-B:08 Funk PR-A:18,PR-A:19,PR-B:10,PR-B:11 Gospel PR-B:19 Heavy Metal PR-A:20-21 Hip Hop PR-A:17 House PR-A:01 Jazz PR-B:16-18 Latin PR-A:22-23 New Age PR-A:24-25 New Orleans PR-B:13 Orchestral PR-A:26-27,PR-A:30 Pop PR-A:12-15 Reggae PR-B:09 Rock PR-A:02,PR-A:03,PR-A:11 Tekno PR-A:03-05 Zydeco PR-B:12 And there are several others worth exploring. For convenient access to several variations of similar instruments in one Performance Preset look thru the PR-B presets 20-32. Great for live playing, as are, the "default" User Performance Presets which use the LAYER mode. Benjamin Tubb brtubb@cybertron.com http://www.cybertron.com/~brtubb
