Song Proposal #1 Guidelines (28 August 1997)

1) any TimeSig or KeySig (or multiples thereof) may be used

2) instruments MUST include guitar, organ, bass, and drums;
   others MAY be used

3) the chords used may be triads or diatonic seventh chords

4) the song's chord progression MUST be (if in C and 4/4)

5) It is recommended that the following three sysex messages be
   included in all submissions for maximum JV/XP compatibility:

   F0 7E 7F 09 02 F7  [Set GM System Off]
   F0 41 10 6A 12 00 00 00 00 00 00 F7  [Set Performance Mode]
   F0 41 10 6A 12 00 00 00 0C 0F 55 F7  [Set Control Channel to 16]

   And finally followed by a TEMP Performance Bulk Dump
   (including the TEMP Performance Patches).

6) Any style may be used although the instrumentation is meant to
   suggest the music of such groups as The Doors, Focus, ELP,
   Gentle Giant, the Dave Clark Five, and the Iron Butterfly.
